Tools I recommend

The software I actually trust my clients with

I've tried a lot of tools over the years so you don't have to. These are the ones I set clients up on and genuinely recommend. I'm a certified partner with several of them, which usually means better pricing and a real person to call when something breaks.

My short list

What I put clients on, and why

Good software won't fix bad bookkeeping, but bad software makes good bookkeeping much harder than it needs to be.

Bookkeeping

QuickBooks

The platform most of my clients run on. I'm a Gold ProAdvisor, so I can usually get you a better rate than you'd find on your own.

Xero

A clean, easy-to-read alternative to QuickBooks. I'm a Certified Xero Accountant, and some businesses simply get along with it better.

Payroll & HR

Gusto

Payroll, benefits, and onboarding in one place. I'm a Gusto Preferred Partner and it's what I put almost every client on.

Operations

Google Workspace

Professional email on your own domain, plus docs and calendar. If you're still running the business from a personal address, start here.

Billing

Anchor

Autonomous billing that sends invoices and collects payment on its own, so you stop chasing people for money you've already earned.

Payments

Acorn Merchant

Card processing with straightforward pricing. Worth a look if your current statement has fees you can't explain.

A note on this page

Recommendations, not sales pitches

I have partner relationships with some of these companies, and some of these links may earn Starflower a referral. That never changes what I recommend. If a tool isn't right for your business I'll tell you so, and if you're already on something that works, I'm not going to move you for the sake of it.

Not sure what you should be running on?

15 minutes on my calendar. Bring your questions or just your suspicion that something's off. No prep needed, no obligation.
